Overview

Evolution in Techniques for Bone and Soft Tissue Regeneration: Approaches to Long-Term Functional and Aesthetic Success

Hands-on workshop with A/Prof. Giulio Rasperini

Satisfying the aesthetic demands of patients is a major challenge in contemporary periodontology. In addition to eradicating disease and restoring function, aesthetic success is also a major consideration.

A thorough understanding of the biological principles and processes occurring during periodontal/peri-implant wound healing will lead to improved surgical techniques that will optimise surgical outcomes.  The aim of ‘classic’ periodontal reconstructive surgical techniques is to regenerate infra-bony defects and/or re-establish root coverage in cases of gingival recessions. The evolution of regenerative periodontal plastic surgical techniques now makes it possible to simultaneously treat both situations.  Furthermore, regenerative techniques are often employed to manage hard and soft tissue deficiencies around dental implants.

With increasing understanding of regenerative biology and advancements in regenerative surgical techniques, together with availability of safe and scientifically-proven biomaterials, it is now possible to satisfy the patient’s demands by regenerating periodontal and peri-implant tissues with predictable long-term results.

Workshop will run as follows:
8:30am Registration
9:00am Workshop Commences
5:00pm Workshop Concludes
