Overview
Immediacy in Implant Dentistry – an efficient and predictable treatment approach
The impact of tooth loss in the aesthetic zone is of significant concern for patients. This concern can be largely mitigated by the efficient delivery of definitive treatment. In many instances, immediate implant placement is a treatment approach that can offer this efficiency and predictability. This workshop will comprehensively cover the biological principles, case selection considerations, and the clinical protocols necessary to perform immediate implant therapy with confidence. The management of intact and compromised sockets will be addressed, as will the management of the surrounding peri-implant hard and soft tissues. Furthermore, the evolving role of digital technologies in implant dentistry will also be covered.
This full-day workshop and lecture facilitated by Prof. Dr. Jan Cosyn, will cover the management of intact and compromised sockets, along with the management of the surrounding peri-implant hard and soft tissues. By the end of this full-day workshop, attendees will have gained practical skills and evidence-based knowledge to perform immediate implant placement in a way to predictably achieve long-term functional and aesthetic outcomes.
The workshop will run as follows:
8:30am Registration
9:00am Workshop Commences
5:00pm Workshop Concludes
Please feel free to bring your loupes.

- Treatment planning considerations for immediate implant therapy
- Understanding physiological changes after tooth extraction
- Optimal 3-D implant positioning to facilitate functional and aesthetic restorability
- The role of biomaterials in immediate implant treatment

- Immediate implant placement in an intact extraction socket – focus on 3-D implant positioning, grafting the buccal gap, and chairside fabrication of a socket seal abutment (on simulation model)
- Immediate implant placement in a compromised socket – focus on more complex 3-D implant positioning, managing the socket dehiscence, and augmenting peri-implant soft tissues (on simulation model)
- Soft tissue harvesting techniques, de-epithelialization techniques, connective tissue graft application, palatal wound management (on pig jaw)
